Hayley Atwell reveals she shot 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' fight scene when she was eight and a half months pregnant

Hayley Atwell, who plays IMF agent Grace in the 'Mission: Impossible series,' has shared an amazing behind-the-scenes fact from the production of the eighth and last instalment of the show, 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.' Golden Globe nominee Atwell revealed that she was eight and a half months pregnant during filming of the deciding fight scene in the blockbuster, information that she revealed for the first time in a recent visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

During the chat show, the 43-year-old, stunned the crowd with the news. "I'm actually eight and a half months pregnant," Atwell revealed, just before showing a scene from the movie.

Fallon, looking shocked, replied, "You're kidding, right?" Atwell assured him, "And let me tell you, I was taken care of so well. Everyone was so nice and they were like, 'Oh, sit down, and we'll get a stunt double to do it.' And I was like, 'No! I've worked too hard. Let me do it.' So I did it, and here it is"


A new era for Atwell and the franchise
Atwell was inducted into the 'Mission: Impossible' world in 2023, playing Grace, a thief whose allegiance is questionable and who becomes the partner of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). Grace is a fully-fledged IMF agent who partners with Hunt to fight against rogue artificial intelligence that brings the world to the brink of catastrophe in The Final Reckoning.

The eighth film, out now, also features Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Ving Rhames, Angela Bassett, and others under Christopher McQuarrie's direction.

Personal milestones
Off-screen, Atwell kept the arrival of her first child with partner Ned Wolfgang Kelly in 2024 a secret. She called Kelly her husband in a recent TV outing, confirming the marriage after the couple became engaged in 2023.

A memorable legacy
As Atwell bids farewell to her character Grace and the franchise concludes its decades-long run. She will soon reprise her role as Agent Peggy Carter in 'Avengers: Doomsday', a highly anticipated film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
