I love to be called an action star: Kate Beckinsale

She's all of 5 feet 7 inches, but actress Kate Beckinsale has always amazed her fans with her acting in films. Kate who will be seen in Total Recall, playing the character of Lori, Kate says, "I have never played a dark character like this one which is a major reason why I have worked in this film.”
Having worked mostly in action films, Kate defends her choice of characters and says, “I was 17 when I started acting.I have always been an independent woman and I do not like to portray the character of a weak, meek woman. I love doing action films for that reason and I love to be called an action star!”
In the original Total Recall which was released in 1990, the character of Lori was played by actress Sharon Stone. But comparisons with Stone don't bother Beckinsale and she says, "I have seen the original Total Recall, I like it very much and Sharon Stone’s performance is indeed commendable. But I did not feel any sort of pressure as such. She did her bit, I'm doing mine.”
Directed by her husband Len Wiseman, Total Recall is not the only film that the couple has worked on together. They have also worked together in the Underworld Series. “Len and I worked together in the past also and we are fortunate that all our films have been a success. We form a good pair on screen as well as off screen When on the sets, he's the director and I'm the actor. He commands and I deliver. Off screen, we are like any normal couple.”
Kate started her film career with Kenneth Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing, Pearl Harbour, Van Helsing, Underworld series.
