James Gunn shares an update on the remaining filming of 'Superman'

Superman flies closer! James Gunn's highly anticipated Superman movie is nearing completion. After filming for several months, including a recent six-week shoot in Cleveland, the DC Studios co-head took to social media to share an update.

While Metropolis' streets have been captured in Ohio, there's still a bit more filming left before the Man of Steel takes flight.

Gunn mentioned in a recent Threads update that they have a "couple weeks left" of production on Superman after filming in Cleveland. Gunn also confirmed that neither he nor the cast of Superman will be attending San Diego Comic-Con later this month due to scheduling conflicts with the shoot.

Gunn wrote, "We are not done shooting," "Still a couple weeks left. Just done shooting in Cleveland. And yeah it's a long shoot… but we're getting close!!"

According to DC Studios, the Superman series follows Superman's journey as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas, as he grapples with his Kryptonian heritage and human upbringing. He embodies truth, justice, and the hope for a better future, guided by kindness in a world that often overlooks it.

The cast includes Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica (also known as The Engineer), Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt (Mr. Terrific), Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason (Metamorpho), Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.

DC Studios' upcoming lineup includes several projects: the Superman movie in 2025, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in 2026, and other films like The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and The Authority whose release dates are yet to be announced. On television, they're launching an animated series called Creature Commandos, along with the second season of Peacemaker. Future shows include Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, and Paradise Lost. Reports also mention an animated Jurassic League movie and a live-action Teen Titans movie, although DC Studios has not confirmed these officially.
