Jennifer Aniston's old interview about meeting with Angelina Jolie before Brad Pitt affair, resurfaces amid divorce saga
Jennifer Aniston’s recollection of her first interaction with Angelina Jolie has resurfaced amidst the latter's divorce battle with Brad Pitt, reigniting interest in one of Hollywood’s most infamous love triangles.
Those keeping up with the couple will be aware that Pitt and Aniston were Hollywood's golden couple before they parted ways and the actor moved on with Jolie. In an old interview with Vanity Fair, Jen shared in 2005 that her first and only meeting with Jolie was in 2004 on the Warner Bros. Studios lot in Burbank, California, where she was filming her iconic sitcom, 'Friends'.
"I pulled over and introduced myself," Aniston shared at the time. "I said, 'Brad is so excited about working with you. I hope you guys have a really good time!'"
Unbeknownst to Aniston, her friendly gesture would precede the unravelling of her marriage. At the time, Pitt was gearing up to star alongside Jolie in the spy-comedy 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'. The film, which began shooting in August 2004, sparked a connection between the co-stars and in turn sparked off affair rumours, and the ultimate break down of Pitt's marriage to Aniston.
Despite both Pitt and Jolie denying any affair, Aniston's separation from her husband of 4 years in January 2005, fuelled speculation. At the time of the split, Jen reportedly 'chose' to believe her divorce was not because another woman was involved.
However, just three months later, Jolie seemingly confirmed the relationship by tipping off a photographer about a stroll on Kenya's Diani Beach with Pitt and her son, Maddox.
Jann Wenner, former owner of Us Weekly, corroborated Jolie’s role in leaking the photos in his 2022 memoir Like a Rolling Stone, stating: "We got the photo, we got the proof... The tipster was Angelina."
This throwback piece comes as Jolie officially signed her divorce papers on Christmas Day, marking the end of a two-year marriage and an eight-year legal battle with Pitt. Details of their divorce have since been under wraps.
