Johnny Depp's debut art collection of four portraits fetches $3.6 million

After being under an intense public gaze in the defamation case against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, which he won, Johnny Depp has now increasingly taken to painting and music as a means to express his feelings. Perhaps, the two activities help him take his mind off all the dirty linen that washed publicly between the couple and aired from their court proceedings.

The London-based art gallery with which Depp collaborated, sold 800 prints of the limited edition portrait artworks he painted of four celebrities as a part of his Friends & Heroes collection. The four portraits of Liz Taylor, Bob Dylan, Keith Richards and Al Pacino and their 800 limited edition prints that were sold, fetched the actor a neat $3.6 million. These first four portraits were his first formal attempt as an artist last year.
A new set of prints of four portraits of Bob Marley, late actors Heath Ledger and River Phoenix and writer Hunter S Thompson were released by Castle Fine Art gallery in February and sold out almost immediately. The prints were priced at $4,500 each. A set of the four framed prints is also available as a set for over $17,000. The individual prints have already been sold.

Some of these exceptional people were Johnny’s friends and all were people who contributed majorly to his life, the budding new artist said in a video about his new collection. A video explaining the concept behind his Friends & Heroes artworks is available on Youtube.
