Justin Bieber’s MEAN comment against wife Hailey Bieber shocks internet; Indian fans ask 'Are they white people's Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt?'

A seemingly backhanded comment made by pop star Justin Bieber about wife Hailey Bieber has ignited a social media firestorm and prompting an unexpected comparisons with Bollywood’s Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

The controversy erupted after Hailey graced the cover of Vogue's June 2025 issue, prompting Justin to take to Instagram to “congratulate” her — in a post many deemed more awkward than affectionate. “Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight,” Bieber wrote. “I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Yikes I know, so mean.”

He continued, reflecting on their past argument, “For some reason because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even...”


While he eventually circled back to apologise — “So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn’t get a Vogue cover cuz clearly I was sadly mistaken” — the damage was done. Many fans were left baffled that Bieber chose his wife’s career milestone to reflect on a past insult.

Comments poured in ranging from affectionate to appalled. “You shoulda kept that to yourself, baby,” a fan adviced while another said, “Keep this man off the internet.”

Interestingly, Indian fans took this discussion one step further, drawing parallels between the Biebers and Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor. Seemingly drawing comparisons to the actor's past mean comments to his wife Alia Bhatt, one Instagram user asked, “Are they white people’s Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt?” Another declared, “America ka Ranbir Kapoor,” while a third chimed in, “Lo aa gaya gore logon ka Ranbir Kapoor.”







While there is no clarity on what brought on the comparison, RK faced the wrath of social media when he made a casual remark about Alia’s pregnancy weight gain that was widely criticised online. Like Bieber, Kapoor was accused of poor timing and insensitive humour, prompting Alia to later downplay the comment as an “inside joke.”

On the professional front, Ranbir and Alia are currently busy at work on their latest film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love and War' which will see them reuniting with Vicky Kaushal.

Justin and Hailey, on the other hand, have been braving divorce rumours. The couple, who is reportedly going through a rough patch in their lives with buzz about financial strain putting additional pressure on the two.
