Leonardo DiCaprio was all praises on his Instagram handle for the ingenious and perhaps fortunate way in which Mr Abraham, a local stage director from
Kerala, unearthed a brand new species of subterranean fish, while taking a routine shower!
The social media post has already garnered almost 135,000 likes. DiCaprio wrote, "“The wild is all around us and sometimes all it takes to discover a new species is going about a normal day.
This was the case for Mr. Abraham, a local stage director living in Kerala State, India, who discovered a new species of fish while taking a shower. Hidden from light and isolated beneath the soil’s surface in the narrow aquifers of the southern Indian state of Kerala, live sightless subterranean freshwater fish like the new Pathala Eel Loach. Despite this fortuitous discovery, accessing these fishes and unlocking their secrets is no easy task."
Mr Abraham's niece, anna_sandra_22, expressed her admiration for “my Jack” and thanked Leo for highlighting her uncle’s discovery and “profound sense of gratification.” Another netizen commented, “Didn't expect Leo DiCaprio to announce the discovery of a new species of fish in Kerala. Pleasant surprise.”
Leonardo DiCaprio is known for being a passionate environmentalist, campaigning against global warming for a better environment. In 2015, when Leo won the Oscar for the film, Revenant, he commented on the importance of environmental sustainability and improving the global air quality.
