However, here is great news for superhero lovers worldwide, as they released the teaser trailer for 'Madame Web'. Marvel has shared the trailer on their official Instagram page, marking Sony's association with them.
The world may seem tired of watching superhero movies, but Hollywood isn't ready to stop making them. On Wednesday, Sony Pictures released the trailer for their upcoming superhero film ‘Madame Web,’ starring Dakota Johnson. This film is part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, and Dakota portrays the lead character, Cassandra Webb, who possesses clairvoyant abilities. Sydney Sweeney also stars as Julia Carpenter, who transforms into Spider-Woman in the comics.
The trailer introduces Dakota's character as someone with the power to see into the future, potentially preventing disasters. It suggests that the universe around her operates in different timelines, all connected through her character. ‘Madame Web’ follows other Sony Spider-Man Universe films, including Tom Hardy's ‘Venom’ series and ‘Morbius’ starring Jared Leto.
In an interview with Variety, Dakota Johnson described ‘Madame We’ as a ‘wild experience,’ expressing her excitement about entering the Marvel world. She mentioned that she doesn't think that one can be prepped to go into anything like that, but she learned so much. It’s a completely different way of making films.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Dakota discussed playing a character not well-known outside of comics, saying, ‘It’s good to be in the Marvel world, especially with a character that’s not popular. There’s a lot of space to make her very sound. She is very excited and added that It’s always been a dream of hers to do some kind of massive action movie. She always wanted to be like a female Indiana Jones.
Directed by SJ Clarkson, ‘Madame Web’ is set to be released in February 2024.
