'Man of Tomorrow': David Corenswet’s Superman battles Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in viral videos from film set

The 'Superman' sequel 'Man of Tomorrow' officially began shooting on Monday, and now, the latest photos from the sets show David Corenswet's going toe-to-toe with Nicholas Hoult.

Director James Gunn has wasted no time in getting the Man of Steel up against his rival, Lex Luthor. The viral clips and photos from the sets, capture Corenswet's Superman battling it out with Hoult. Not just that, he behind-the-scenes footage offers one of the clearest looks yet at the highly anticipated fight scenes that see Lex in his iconic villain's heavily armed war suit.

In the videos, the two actors appear to be filming amid a busy street. Hoult was seen casually walking around the sets in his new suit, before taking his place on the sets. While the new war armour is expected to bing Superman to his knees, the clips show Lex without his helmet, getting overpowered by his rival.

The appearance of the war suit comes just days after Gunn officially teased the costume by sharing the first image of Hoult on social media.

The footage also provides a glimpse of Corenswet fully embracing the role of Superman and bringing to screen some iconic comic-book scenes. The actor on Monday began shooting his segments with aerial shots, suspended from a crane.

'Man of Tomorrow' cast and release date

'Man of Tomorrow' will see Corenswet return as Clark Kent/Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Hoult as Lex Luthor. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, it has been confirmed that the superhero will face off against arch nemesis, Brainiac, who will be played by Lars Eidinger.



While filming has already commenced, the film is slated to relase on July 9, 2027.
