Silkwood
’ co-star Cher.
At a recent red carpet premiere of the film, Streep, 69, spoke about reuniting with Cher in the film among other things. She said it was fantastic to work with Cher and revealed that when she came on the set the first time, Cher sang ‘
Fernando
’ and literally stole the show. Streep, a three-time Oscar winner, also joked that Cher plays her mother in the sequel, which is based on the popular songs by pop group
ABBA
, since she has lived a longer life than she has. Funnily enough, at 72, Cher is only three years older than Streep.
The two talented women starred together way back in 1983 in the drama ‘Silkwood’, which was inspired by the life of whistleblower and union activist Karen Silkwood, who tragically passed away in a strange car accident.
When Cher was asked to comment on Streep, she said that the two had been friends over the decades and it was great to work onscreen together after all these years.
