Marvel's Blade reboot has been a hot topic recently, especially after the departure of its latest director, sparking debate about the film’s future. Mia Goth, attached to the film for over a year and rumored to play the villain Lilith, recently shared her thoughts on the delays. In an interview with Deadline, Goth confirmed her ongoing involvement with Blade and praised Marvel Studios for their commitment to making a quality movie.

Lilith, a character created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan in 1974, first appeared in Giant-Size Chillers Featuring The Curse of Dracula #1. She is Dracula's first child, born before he became a vampire. After Dracula killed her adopted family, Lilith was given vampiric powers and immunity to sunlight to seek revenge on him. Over time, Lilith has the ability to die and be reborn, taking over women who also seek to kill Dracula. Her most recent host was a widow named Angel O'Hara, though they eventually could operate in separate bodies. Lilith has been both a villain and an antihero, even joining Nick Fury's Howling Commandos.

A different version of Lilith, an immortal goddess controlling all demons, was introduced by Howard Mackie and Andy Kubert in 1992's Ghost Rider #28. This Lilith is more straightforwardly antagonistic, battling characters like Ghost Rider, Morbius, Doctor Strange, and the Midnight Sons. She was also the main antagonist in Marvel's Midnight Suns video game.

Blade's Director Dilemma

Currently, Marvel has not announced a new director for Blade after the recent exit of Yann Demange, known for his work on Lovecraft Country and White Boy Rick. Demange, who replaced the original director Bassam Tariq in September 2022, left the project amicably "a while ago."

Eric Pearson, a Marvel Studios veteran, is the latest writer working on the Blade script, continuing from a previous draft by Michael Starbury. Despite the changes in the directing team, Blade is still scheduled for a fall 2025 release. However, with the director's seat currently vacant, this timeline could change.

In summary, while the Blade reboot faces some challenges, Mia Goth's comments highlight the dedication of Marvel Studios to deliver a great film. Fans can still look forward to its potential release in fall 2025, pending any further delays.
