Hollywood was shocked by the sudden demise of actress Michelle Trachtenberg on Wednesday. The 39-year-old, known for her roles in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Gossip Girl,' had faced public scrutiny over her health and appearance in recent years. Despite her efforts to shut down the negativity, online criticism continued even in the weeks leading up to her death.

In 2024, after people began speculating about her weight loss, Trachtenberg addressed the issue directly on social media. She posted a selfie and reassured fans that she was healthy, writing, “Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition, no problems. Why do you have to hate? Get a calendar.”

Later that year, she spoke out again after receiving more negative comments about her looks. She denied undergoing plastic surgery and insisted she was happy with herself. “I've received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery. I am happy and healthy. Check yourself, haters,” she wrote. In response to a follower's comment, she also reminded people of her age, saying, “Realize I'm not 14. I'm 38.”

However, criticism did not stop. Even in late 2024, social media users left unkind remarks about her "jaundiced eyes" and "chapped lips," drawing attention to her physical appearance rather than her accomplishments.

According to the New York Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call early Wednesday morning at a luxury apartment building in Manhattan's Hell’s Kitchen. When they arrived, they found Trachtenberg unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

As reported by AFP, police stated that there were no signs of foul play. The New York Medical Examiner’s Office is currently determining the cause of death. Some reports suggested that the actress had undergone a liver transplant the previous year, but no connection to her passing has been confirmed.

Her representative, Gary Mantoosh, shared a brief statement on behalf of her family, requesting privacy as they mourn their loss.

Trachtenberg began her career as a child star, first gaining recognition in the 1996 film 'Harriet the Spy.' She later became well-known for her roles in popular TV shows of the 2000s, including Buffy the 'Vampire Slayer' and 'Gossip Girl.' Her performances left a lasting impression on fans, making her a beloved figure in Hollywood.

Despite the challenges she faced, her legacy in television and film remains significant.
