In contention for six Oscars, and winner of multiple-awards, the Hollywood film 'Lion' saw its India premiere in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. The film's director Garth Davis articulated the passion with which they shot the film.

Garth Davis said, "I hope India likes the film. It's made with a lot of passion and heart. India has had a huge contribution in making this film and I couldn't be happier to be present here at the Indian premiere. Working on 'Lion' has been a great journey".
In attendance for the premiere were members of the Indian cast - child actor Sunny Pawar, Priyanka Bose and Tanishtha Chatterjee. Numerous B-town celebrities showed up to the event, including acclaimed directors Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra, Ayan Mukherji, Kabir Khan who walked in with his wife Mini Mathur and several actors including Radhika Apte, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, Arshad Warsi, Monica Dogra and Maria Goretti among others.
'Lion' was shot extensively in India and Australia, and is based on Saroo Brierley who penned his life story in a non-fiction novel called 'A Long Way Home'. The book is a moving tale of a five-year-old Saroo who loses his way from home far away in Kolkata, and finds himself to be adopted by an Australian family. 25 years later, Saroo embarks on a quest using Google Earth to find his way back home.
