Pope delays premiere of 'The Walk' at New York Film Festival

Organisers of the New York Film Festival have decided to delay the fest's opening night screening of Robert Zemeckis' 'The Walk' because of Pope Francis' visit to New York City.

Film Society of Lincoln Centre opted to shift the high-profile screening to September 26, due to logistical and security reasons, reported Variety.

Pope Francis has full day of activities planned for September 25, the night The Walk was originally scheduled to screen.
The festival, however, will still open on September 25 with other festival programming yet to be announced.

The Walk stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Philippe Petit, the high-wire artist who walked on a wire from one of the World Trade Centre's Twin Towers to the other in 1974.
Despite the postponement, the film is still designated the opening-night selection for the 53rd New York Film Festival, which runs from September 25 to October 11.
