The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on a tour of Australia. It is their first visit since departing their official duties six years ago. While their visit witnesses Meghan Markle in her element, one incident has left fans unconvinced. Fans have pointed out Prince Harry’s hasty entry-exit from an event that spotlighted his wife, Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry made a hasty departure from Meghan Markle’s event
While the Duchess of Sussex attended a 90-minute speaking engagement at Sydney's InterContinental hotel near Coogee Beach, the attendees revealed how Prince Harry looked a little off. According to The Times, Prince Harry made a brief appearance at the event, sitting to one side alongside Markus Anderson, a director of a club chain and close friend of the couple. His departure, however, left guests bewildered.
Guests say the encounter was unusual
One guest told the outlet, “It was the most unusual thing. People were taking pictures of Meghan on the stage, and Harry sort of rushed out. Really quickly. He didn't wait for her to come off the stage, didn't collect her from the stage. It was really odd.”
The same guest added, "I sat there, and everyone kept going on about how handsome he was and how wonderful he was, but he just almost ran out. It was quite bizarre."
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the couple has undertaken several international tours to promote their various ventures and business interests. The Sydney event was positioned as one of the more significant engagements during their Australian visit, making the early departure particularly notable to those present.
The duke's hasty exit stood in stark contrast to the attention lavished upon his wife throughout the evening.
The Sydney event epitomised how the Sussexes have transformed their royal status into a commercial enterprise since departing official duties six years ago in pursuit of "financial freedom".
When Meghan last visited Australia in 2018 as a working royal, she was performing duties on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.
Meanwhile, the couple could return to Britain this summer ahead of Birmingham hosting Harry's Invictus Games next year.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
