Tina Fey and Paramount Pictures land in trouble as Rosalind Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wannabes takes legal action demanding more compensation
The screenplay of the film, Mean Girls was based on Rosalind Wiseman's book Queen Bees and Wannabes that was on The New York Times Best Seller list. The book that gives an insight into female high school social cliques, takes up the topic of school bullying and the adverse, damaging effect this can have on teenagers.
Rosalind Wiseman had received a one-time fee of $400,000 for selling the movie rights to her book in 2002 to producer Tina Fey and Paramount Pictures for making the movie, Mean Girls. The contract, according to Rosalind, included film rights and any other work rights including net profits. Rosalind however, has claimed that this was not paid as the studio claimed that no profits were made.
Moreover, the author is now claiming that the producers have made money by recycling her work over and over again and hence, she is now demanding more compensation. Her lawyers will be taking legal action against Tina Fey and Paramount Pictures as they believe that their client is entitled to more.
Rosalind also said that Tina often speaks about how women should support other women. However, her experience with the actor-comedian did not give her the feeling that she was being supported in any way.
