Welsh screenwriter and producer Russell T. Davis has firmly condemned veteran actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s statements, where she criticised the coordinators, claiming she was uncomfortable with so detailed choreography. She had filmed the sensual scenes opposite Timothee Chalamet for their sports drama, ‘Marty Supreme.’ “This has become one of the most divisive arguments in Hollywood. Russell thinks stars like Gwyneth are speaking from a position of enormous power, while actors with less status often rely on intimacy coordinators to feel safe and protected,” Radar Online stated.






The intimacy coordinators were included in the equation of filming following the confessions during the #MeToo movement, where the explosions revealed the abuse and forceful actions in the industry. However, Paltrow had a different view while shooting the sequence with the younger actor. “I was like, 'Girl, I'm from the era where you get n***d, you get in bed, the camera's on'," she said in the interview with Vanity Fair, before adding, “We said, 'I think we're good. You can step a little bit back.’”

As a response, the insiders close to Russell stated that Paltrow’s opinion came from a view of a famous actor, who has no idea of beginning the job with no power on the set. Hollywood veteran Kim Basinger shared similar ideas to Paltrow. In an interview with Variety, she said, “I can't imagine having somebody come up to me and say, 'Do you mind if they put their hand here?” Furthermore, the actress said that coordinators can spoil the spontaneity of the intimacy.
