Social media creator and nonprofit founder Shirley Raines, who was also known as “Ms. Shirley,” has passed away at the age of 58. In an official announcement made by her organization, Beauty 2 The Streetz, they confirmed the news through a social media post.

A life that touched many hearts

Talking about her dedicated personality of donation and helping the unprivileged in need with food and shelter, the organization shared its grief with her followers. For the unversed, Shirley Raines spent her life helping people who had no homes. Beauty 2 The Streetz said her life made an “immeasurable impact.” The group also said she brought “dignity, resources, and hope” to people who needed it the most.

The statement read, “It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that Beauty 2 The Streetz announces the passing of our beloved CEO and founder, Shirley Raines, affectionately known to so many as Ms. Shirley.”

They mentioned the “immeasurable” impact she had on the homeless communities throughout Los Angeles and Nevada. They added that she used the modern tool of the internet, social media to “amplify the voices of those in need and to bring dignity, resources, and hope to some of the most underserved populations.”

Speaking about her, Shirley Raines was the mother of six children. Unfortunately, she lost one of her sons when he was a toddler in 1990. Dealing with her personal truma she began delivering food to the homeless on Skid Row.

In 2021, when she was named CNN’s Hero of the Year, she spoke about her pain. She said, “It’s important you know that broken people are still very much useful.” Her sadness pushed her to help others. She once said, “I am a mother without a son, and there are a lot of people in the street that are without a mother.” She added, “I feel like it’s a fair exchange — I’m here for them.”
