Hollywood superstar Kirsten Dunst, who is known for films like the Spiderman trilogy, The Virgin Suicides, Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind, has taken the American box office by storm with her latest film Civil War. In just four days of its release, the film minted about US $ 27.7 million ( Rs 231 crore). Civil War features Kirsten in the role of a war photojournalist, who is on the road with few of her colleagues covering the civil war that has ripped apart the country. The film is directed by Alex Garland of Ex Machina and Annihilation fame.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Kriste opened up about an interesting aspect of her role. She spoke about how the film never spoke about her being a woman, nowhere in the entire movie she’s referred to as a female journalist. Talking about it, she said, “ I really appreciate that. “
She added, “It wasn't written in a script like female or nothing in this movie has to do with the fact that I'm a woman. That's what I appreciate. Because I think the lead role of a movie like this is often given to a man. And Alex didn't highlight anything in the film that I was a woman or a female. Like it didn't matter. That's what I appreciate about it.”
Speaking about what she liked the most about her character, Kristen added, “What I really liked about playing this role is that there was zero vanity. So everyone involved, just wanted to make an honest, good, authentic human movie. And I think everyone was really on the same page. I really enjoyed myself making this movie because I really loved the cast and crew and the vibe on set. “
