Nisha Pahuja, Director of the Oscar-nominated documentary, 'To Kill A Tiger' joined a host of fellow nominees for the annual Academy Award luncheon on Monday. The luncheon is a warm, feel-good, egalitarian affair where little-known first-time nominees in categories like best animated short get to rub shoulders and share tables with acting nominees like Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

Nisha, who dressed in an elegant jumpsuit, made the most of her time at the event, promoting her documentary and also rubbing shoulders with her favourite stars. Taking to her Instagram handle, the director shared photos from the luncheon that included a pic with 'Barbie' actress and producer Margot Robbie.

Sharing the photos from her exciting day, she wrote, "The Oscar Nominees Luncheon was yesterday and we’re still walking on air, reminiscing with these incredible BTS moments with Director Nisha Pahuja, Producer David Oppenheim and Executive Producer Anita Lee."

The documentary chronicles the brave story of an Indian farmer Ranjit, who fights for justice for his 13-year-old daughter, a victim of a brutal gang rape. The director, who sat for several interviews as she campaigned for her film, added in her note, "We may be half a world away from where we first met Kiran, Ranjit and Jaganti but as we spoke about their heroic fight with journalists and fellow nominees, they’ve never felt nearer."

In an interview with TIFF, Nisha shared her eperience about shooting the film. She said, "Making this film has been extraordinary. I didn't realise how much work it would be to get the film out into the world. That's been a whole other journey."

Going on to share her difficulties and relentless pursuit to get her film out there, she added, "It's amazing because we have really become this kind of grass root team of women. It's just 8 or 10 of us. Some of us are in Canada and some in the United States. I like to say that we are all kind of disruptors. We've broken a certain kind of mould and we have taken on the film and decided that we are just going to take it out to the world. We're just this group of women, relentless, working 24x7 and just determined to get it out. That's going to be an amazing experience."

The centerpiece of the luncheon in Beverly Hills, California, was a class photo of the entire group of nominees. Nearly all of them usually attend, both as part of the Oscars experience and as part of their unspoken campaigns for votes. The nominees packed into the ballroom and posed for group pictures.

'To Kill A Tiger' will contend with 'Bobi Wine: The People’s President', 'The Eternal Memory', 'Four Daughters' and '20 Days in Mariupol' to win the Academy Award for Best Documentary.
