The wait is finally over for fans of the Tron franchise, as the filming of the highly anticipated third installment, titled "Tron: Ares," has officially begun. The third installment, Tron: Ares, aims to continue the story from the previous two films. While the Tron movies might not have been massive commercial successes, they earned admiration for their pioneering use of computer graphics and animations, creating a nostalgic appeal for fans eager to embark on a new journey with their beloved franchise.

The filming for Tron 3, initially titled Tron: Ares, was initially scheduled to commence in August of the previous year. However, due to strikes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), the production faced delays. This setback is not the first for the film, as Disney nearly abandoned the project in 2015.

Director Joachim Rønning recently confirmed the commencement of filming through an Instagram post, showcasing the new logo for Tron 3 and indicating the start of production.

The ensemble cast of Tron: Ares boasts notable names, including Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto, Emmy winner Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, and Sarah Desjardins, among others.

As for the release details, Tron 3 is still in the early stages of production, and Disney has not announced an official release date. The mode of presentation, whether through theatrical release or on Disney+, remains uncertain. Given the high-quality graphics and animations expected in the film, a theatrical release seems fitting, but Disney may weigh the option of a Disney+ premiere.

For those unfamiliar with the Tron storyline, the first film introduces Kevin Flynn, a genius hacker who discovers a virtual world where computer programs from the real world are sentient beings. The sequel, Tron: Legacy, explores the mysterious disappearance of Kevin Flynn, with his son Sam uncovering a malevolent clone plot. Tron: Ares promises a continuation of this captivating narrative.

As the Tron saga continues with its latest installment, fans eagerly await the unveiling of the virtual world's new chapter and the adventures it holds.
