US comedian Bill Cosby convicted of sexual assault

A jury found Bill Cosby guilty on Thursday of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home 14 years ago, capping the downfall of one of the world's best-known entertainers, and offering a measure of satisfaction to the dozens of women who for years have accused him of similar assaults against them.

employee he had mentored. U S comedian Bill Cosby, 80, best known as the lovable father from "The Cosby Show", faces up to 10 years in prison for each of three counts.

The verdict came after a two-week retrial in which prosecutors put five other women on the stand who testified that Cosby drugged and violated them, too. It was the only criminal case to arise from allegations from his more than 60 accusers.
