‘Wicked’ Broadway star Bret Hanna-Shuford passes away at 46; loses cancer battle after rare diagnosis

Theatre actress Bret Hanna-Shuford, who was best known for his role in the ‘Wicked’ Broadway musicals, has passed away. He was 46 at the time of his demise and had been suffering from a form of cancer.
According to a social media post shared by his husband, Stephen Hanna-Shuford, the actor passed away in the early hours of January 3. He posted an emotional note along with the post that read that the actor will always be remembered. The post continued that “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that early this morning we said goodbye to the most amazing man, husband, and Papa in the universe. Bret Hanna-Shuford left this world peacefully with love surrounded by his family. Our hearts are broken, but we will continue to make him proud of us..”
He started his work in music dramas such as ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as well as ‘The Little Mermaid.’ Recalling his first projects altogether, the actor rejoiced and asked her if she needed anything. “Both shows were dreams come true, and continue to have been gifts in my life. During that time, I met my husband, ballet dancer and actor Stephen Hanna,” he added.
Some of his other works include ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, ‘Paramour’, and ‘Amazing Grace’ to name a few.

What happened to Bret Hanna-Shuford?
Earlier in the summer last year, the stage actor had received the news that he had T-cell lymphoma. Not only that, but he was also diagnosed with an immune condition, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. According to the Cleveland Clinic, this is “a rare and often life-threatening condition if left untreated. HLH causes your immune system to attack your body instead of a foreign invader, like a virus. The condition is either acquired or genetic, and there’s no way to prevent it. The actor was born in 1979 and had been involved in the world of dancing, acting, and singing from a young age. His talents were also cultivated at his home. On his official website, he explained how he got into the business himself. He revealed that it was ‘over’ for him the moment he saw children dancing and singing around him.
