Hollywood continues to maintain its adventure streak throughout the year with several action flicks keeping the moviegoers on the edge. Promising more romance, comedy, science fiction and action, the best Hollywood movies are lined up in the second half of the year. From action-packed Hercules and The Expendables 3 to the fiery suspense flick - Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Far from enough, dramas like Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Sex Tape have something for the romantic-minded too. Check out the best Hollywood flicks we are looking forward to in the rest of 2014.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (July 11)
It will be a refreshing change after watching Godzilla, Spiderman and X-Men which sent tremors in the movie theatres. The science fiction film will show Caesar (the leader of the apes) taking a journey and finding a group of human survivors after an epidemic wiped out the human race a decade ago. The short-lived union of Apes and humans is then followed by a war for the domination of the planet. The most awaited sequel of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves and has Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Keri Russell in the lead role.

Planes: Fire & Rescue (July 18)
It is the sequel of 2013 film Planes for which Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra had lent her voice for the character of Ishani. This one is sans Priyanka but should be a delightful watch in 3D. Racer Dusty Crophopper (voice of Dane Cook) quits racing and steps into the world of wildfire air attack. He meets Lil' Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen) and many others and realizes how he is now a real hero.

Hercules (July 25)
Left impatient after the 300 sequel, Hercules has all it takes to quench the thirst of a war film. With Dwayne Johnson stepping into the shoes of Hercules and supermodel Irina Shayk playing Megara, the film is loaded with high on energy scenes and special effects. The presence of lions and snakes will also contribute in boosting the adrenaline rush as Hercules gives his life as a sword-for-hire to the King of Thrace and his daughter who seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord. This one is definitely the one to watch out for.

Guardians of the Galaxy (August 8)
As all heroes start somewhere, Guardians of the Galaxy takes up the mood created by the Avengers to the next level. With power-packed action sequences featuring Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista, the trailer looks promising and high on energy. Set up in space, the film begins as pilot Peter Quill steals an orb and joins a group of misfits comprising of Gamora, Rocket, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot to fight Ronan. Watch out for this one if you are an adventure freak.

Sex Tape (July 25/August)Surfacing from amongst too many action flicks, this rom-com is exactly what the lovebirds may desire for. Featuring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel as a married couple with kids who make a sex tape to bring back the spice in their decade old marriage, the film seems to run high on fun and romance. All hell breaks loose as the sex tape gets leaked and then begins the struggle to recover it from the Cloud network. As the name suggests, the film will be a spicy combination of romance and humour.

22 Jump Street (August 1)
Looking for a light-hearted film with a punch of action and drama? 22 Jump Street is the right thing to see. The film has already released overseas and has been followed by good reviews. If you loved watching Bollywood films like Main Hoon Na and Mickey Virus, this one is worth a watch. Starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in lead roles, the film begins as the two officers look for drug dealers on an online college with only key words as their weapons. The two finally spot their destination at 22 Jump Street and have to enter it undercover. What comes ahead should be revealed only in the theatres.

For all those who have grown up watching Ninja Turtles on television, the upcoming film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle will be a delightful treat. The four teenage anthropomorphic turtles trained by rat sensei will be seen doing much more than what they do best – battling petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated animals, and alien invaders while remaining away from the limelight. This one can be worth waiting for if you have been missing the Ninja Turtles for long.

The Expendables 3 is the third in The Expendables series. It’s the battle within as the gang led by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is forced to fight the team’s co-founder Conrad Stonebanks. Ross had tried to kill Conrad who turned a cruel arms dealer but he survived and is now out to take revenge. Ross decided to make a new younger team of The Expendables to wage a war against Conrad with full vengeance.

If you love watching intense drama surrounding romance, cheating, relationships and revenge, ‘Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For’ is worth waiting for. The title hints at the upcoming dose of drama that is set to hit the screens in August. Starring Josh Brolin, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert, Jaime King, Bruce Willis and many more, the film revolves around Josh Brolin who struggles with his inner turmoil but the strange turn of events have something else in store for him. His ex-girlfriend Eva Green returns to him for help in getting rid of her billionaire but abusive husband played by Marton Csokas. However, as he is drawn towards Eva Green, he realizes that there is more to Eva and her intentions than just her husband.

This one is not just a tale of the bond between humans and dolphins but the soothing cinematography may also prove a treat to the eyes. Go for this one if you are looking forward to a family outing.

The Maze Runner tells the gripping tale of Thomas who wakes up in a huge maze with no past memory. The film has some nail-biting scenes and loads of action which will keep the moviegoers on the edge. How Thomas discovers his true purpose and does he ever escape at all, will be worth finding in the movie theatres.

He battles with the mafia single-handedly and is a one man army in all regards. Chloë Grace Moretz who plays Teri in the film will also be seen sharing the screens space with Denzel. The film is expected to be a good time-pass watch for the movie lovers.

James Franco is in the lead role along with Seth Rogen who has co-directed the film with Evan Goldberg.

The film will be a light-hearted watch as lawyer Robert Downey Jr returns to his hometown in Indiana for his mother's funeral. However, the strange turn of events make the loss a complicated one as he discovers that his estranged father, Judge Joseph Palmer (played by Robert Duvall) who is also the town's judge, is suspected of her murder. Robert is bound to defend his father in court and faces Dwight Dickham (Billy Bob Thornton), a lawyer who is instead wants to see Joseph behind the bars.

The film will be an interesting watch as the explorers and scientists come together to embark on a journey through it, transcending the limits of human space travel. This one is expected to be a refreshing change at the end of the year which was dominated by the superheroes.

As the war reaches its end, U.S. Army sergeant Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) takes a war tank called Fury and its five-man crew on a deadly mission in the enemy country. If you cannot get enough of war movies and are a Brad Pitt fan, this one is made for you.

Loaded with war action, special effects, extensive cinematography and fantastic performances, Exodus will be worth waiting for till December. Starring Christian Bale, Ben Kingsley, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver, it is the story of the massive migration of the Israelites from Egypt as led by Moses and described in the Old Testament Book of Exodus.

Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (December 19)
As the curtains will come down on the adventurous year, the release of ‘Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ will be enough to pull the cinema lovers to the movie theatres. The epic fantasy adventure film is the third and final in The Hobbit series which runs high on suspense, action and fantasy. Picking up from the end of The Desolation of Smaug, the dwarfs awaken Smaug the dragon leading to the beginning of the massive battle between the Goblins and Wargs, the Men of Lake-town, the Elves, the Dwarfs, the Eagles, and Beorn to win over Erebor (The Lonely Mountain) and its treasure. This one will definitely be an on-the-edge, nail-biting film packed with action.
