Hollywood horror movies to look forward to in 2018

Though superhero genre has taken over the interest of the majority, horror genre has always maintained its special charm among the audience and horror films in Hollywood always seem to have something special planned for its viewers every year. While this year began on a high note with films like ‘A Quiet Place’ and ‘Truth Or Dare’, there are plenty in store for its fans in the months to come this year. From fact-based stories to supernatural action and the chilling re-emergence of at least one classic character, here we give you a rundown of horror-thriller films that you should keep your eye on this 2018.

‘Slender Man’

Sylvain White’s supernatural horror film, ‘Slender Man’ is about a group of five teenage girls who attempts to investigate the mystery of the Slender Man after one of their friends goes missing. However, they themselves start getting haunted by the Slender Man himself.

Starring Joey King, Julia Telles, Jazz Sinclair, Annalise Basso, Javier Botet and Talitha Bateman, the movie was scheduled to release on May 18, 2018, but was rescheduled in January to August 24, 2018.

The teaser and the trailer of the film received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics.

‘The Nun’

The ‘Conjuring’ series in past few years have succeeded in delivering some of the most terrifying and spine-chilling cinematic experience to the audience with its film instalments that includes, ‘Conjuring’, ‘Conjuring 2’, ‘Annabelle’ and ‘Annabelle: Creation’. Now the makers are all set with yet another Conjuring spin-off titled, ‘The Nun’.

In its last instalment of the film, the makers introduced the audience with ‘Valek’, a demonic nun. The upcoming fifth instalment will further develop this character to give us one of the scariest treats ever.

Starring Taissa Farmiga, Demian Bichir, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu, Jonas Bloquet and Bonnie Aarrons, the film will be directed by Corin Hardy. The film is slated to release on September 7, 2018.

‘The House With A Clock In Its Walls’

A gothic fantasy horror movie, ‘The House With A Clock In Its Walls’, is being directed by Eli Roth. The film is reportedly based on the novel of the same name by John Bellairs and illustrated by Edward Gorey.

The film is about a little kid helping his uncle and a witch to find a clock with the power to end the world. The film stars Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Owen Vaccaro, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Sunny Suljic, and Kyle MacLachlan.

‘The House With A Clock In Its Walls’ is slated to release on September 21, 2018.

‘Halloween’

While remakes and sequels are the in thing currently in both Hollywood and Bollywood, the horror genre too, is not far behind. David Gordon Green is all set to bring to the audience yet another part of the popular ‘Halloween’ film franchise. This upcoming film of the filmmaker will be the eleventh instalment in the series.

The film will pick up forty years after the original events of the original film while disregarding the continuity of the previous sequels. Written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, the film stars, Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Nick Castle, Virginia Gardner and Will Patton.

The film is slated to release on October 19, 2018.

‘Hereditary’

The supernatural horror film, directed by Ari Aster, ‘Hereditary’, is about a family who is being haunted following the death of their isolated grandmother. The movie is about horrifying secrets that they have inherited from their ancestors.

Starring Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, Mily Shapiro and Ann Dowd, the film reportedly scared the audience at the Sundance Film Festival and instantly became a sensation.

Touted as one of the most awaited movies of this year, ‘Hereditary’ is slated for a June 8 release.
