Blues: It was Blues which got together The Rolling Stones as young men and made them the most important British Invasion group. Now, five decades after it was formed, the world's greatest Rock and Roll band is back to its roots with a very unique album. 'Blue & Lonesome' took 20 years to be made, but was recorded in an inspired three-day jamming session and is their first album comprising with covers of Blues legends like Howlin' Wolf, Memphis Slim, Willie Dixon and others which make up the soul of the band.Eric Clapton joined in with his guitar on 'Everybody Knows About My Good Thing' and 'I Can't Quit You Baby', as Mick Jagger focused solely on playing the harmonica and vocals to maintain purity of the Blues. The Stones have a mighty good time on tracks, and jam like maestros, starting with the track 'Just Your Fool'. They continue having a serious blast through seminal Chicago Blues tracks like 'Commit A Crime', 'Hate To See You Go' and 'Ride 'Em On Down'. Interestingly, none of the songs in the album even made it to the charts when they were released in the 50s and 60s, but each of them added and developed the genre. These are raw and soulful songs, which the Stones admit, could not have made it to the top back in the day. But today, as they are old and experienced, they can rightfully carry forward the legacy of the Blues legends and present to the new generation, a proper glimpse through 12 tracks, just what pure Blues sound like.
