Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer and Rakesh Chaurasia struck gold at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards pre-telecast event held in Los Angeles. The group won the Grammy for Best Global Music Performance, for their track 'Pashto'. The group was contending for the award alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had collaborated with Indian-American singers Falu and Gaurav Shah, for a special song 'Abundance in Millets'.

The song, which was created to promote the benefits of millets, was released in June in celebration of the “International Year of Millets”.

The other nominees contending for Best Global Music Performance, included Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer and Shahzad Ismaily for 'Shadow Forces', Burna Boy for 'Alone', Davido for 'Feel', Silvana Estrada for 'Milagro Y Disastre', Bela Fleck, , Ibrahim Maalouf featuring Cimafunk and Tank and the Bangas for 'Todo Colores'.

Bela, Zakir, Edgar and Rakesh scored a second win for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for their album 'As We Speak'. The category recognises albums containing greater than 75% playing time of new contemporary instrumental recordings. The group beat the likes of House Of Waters for 'On Becoming', Bob James for 'Jazz Hands', Julian Lage for 'The Layers' and Ben Wendel for 'All One'.
