In an exclusive interview with People, Lady Gaga pours her heart out. “I used to watch Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood as a little girl, and he always made me feel like I was enough just by being me,” she shared. She wonders aloud, “What would Mister Rogers say right now?” Gaga explains her approach: “I want to sing this song with sincerity and optimism and also hold the tension of the times.” She hopes it lands deep, saying, “I want people to feel like they’re enough just by being themselves.”




At 39, she strips the song bare, recording with Alex Smith and Benjamin Rice at Malibu’s Shangri-La Studios.
