Ozzy Osbourne’s eldest children: Inside their lives and truth behind their absence from his funeral
Ozzy Osbourne, the renowned Godfather of Heavy Metal, died on July 22, 2025, two weeks after his last live performance, leaving the world in shock and mourning. Along with an everlasting musical legacy, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman leaves behind a devastated family.
Ever since his passing, a lot of fans have diverted their attention to the family, his wife Sharon and his kids, Aimee, Jack and Kelly. The family came together to say their final goodbyes to him on July 30, 2025, beneath Birmingham's Black Sabbath Bridge.
Out of the familiar faces in the crowd, people couldn’t spot two of his eldest children, Jessica Osbourne and Elliot Kingsley. Their absence from the legendary singer’s funeral has sparked interest of the keen fans, about the rockstar’s lesser known family before Sharon. As the world grieves the loss of the late Sabbath’s frontman, here’s all we know about two of his oldest children:
Ozzy Osbourne’s first family:
Ozzy Osbourne married his long-time manager Sharon, in 1982. However, before Sharon, there was Thelma Riley, whom the rock star wed in 1971 and who stayed married to him for 11 years. Ozzy adopted Thelma's 1966-born son, Elliot Kingsley, from a prior relationship. He later had two biological children with Thelma: Louis Osbourne (1975) and Jessica Osbourne (1972).
Despite having a joyful start, Ozzy's drug abuse, infidelity, and the pressures of fame caused the marriage to slowly fall apart. The metal superstar publicly acknowledged that he had missed a significant portion of Elliot, Jessica, and Louis's formative years and called his marriage to Thelma "a terrible mistake" in his 2010 memoir, ‘I Am Ozzy’.
Elliot Kingsley, the forgotten son:
While most of Ozzy’s children have some time or the other, the most elusive of them remains Elliot Kingsley, the son he adopted from his marriage to Thelma Riley. Elliot was born in 1966 and has been out of the public eye for almost his whole life. Other than the fact that he is a singer and songwriter, not much is known about his adult life, profession, or present relationship with the Osbourne family.
Elliot’s absence after Ozzy’s passing has gone largely unexplained; neither was his name included in the official family statement, nor did he attend the funeral procession in Birmingham.
Ozzy Osbourne’s First Daughter, Jessica Osbourne:
Ozzy Osbourne’s eldest biological child is Jessica Osbourne, born in 1972 during his marriage to his first wife, Thelma Riley. Like his other daughter, Aimee, Jessica has also largely remained under the radar throughout her life. Jessica talked openly about her strained connection with her father in the 2011 documentary God Bless Ozzy Osbourne. She described her "erratic" upbringing since Ozzy had largely been absent from her life. She was quoted as saying:
“My recollection from my childhood with dad is that he’d be away for very long periods of time, and there’d always be a period of adjustment when he came home, and then it’d get to normality, and then he’d go again. So, it was a very erratic childhood with dad.”
Ozzy was thrilled when Jessica called him to tell him he was now a grandfather during an episode of The Osbournes reality show. According to reports, Jessica, 53, is now a mother of three children. Her absence from the family's formal statement and following the funeral procession was not overlooked, despite the fact that she conveyed a tribute to her late father after his death.
Louis Osbourne: Ozzy’s first son, who stayed close to the family:
Louis, Ozzy's first kid, has remained close to his father and his half-siblings from Sharon, in contrast to his other two siblings. Louis, a father of three, is now a well-known DJ and promoter in the UK. He has shown his love for Ozzy in a number of interviews. In a 2015 Birmingham Live interview, Louis spoke warmly of his close relationship with his father.
He said, “Dad usually calls on a Sunday afternoon for a catch-up, and when he comes over to the UK, we take the kids down [to his home in Buckinghamshire]. Dad is great, very much a doting grandad.”
Louis also attended Ozzy's final performance, Back to the Beginning, which took place on July 5, 2025. According to the BBC, his Facebook post shows how much he loved and cared about the late rock star, even spending months worried about Ozzy's deteriorating health before to the performance.
Louis wrote, “I was sobbing at times. It was everything we wanted it to be and more… I had been anxious for months about this, as I’ve been worried about my dad’s ability to perform with his Parkinson’s disease… But as soon as he started singing, we knew he was gonna nail it.”
On July 30, 2025, Louis walked alongside his stepmother, Sharon, and siblings Jack, Kelly, and Aimee during Ozzy’s funeral procession.
Following Ozzy's death, an official statement signed by his wife, Sharon, and their kids served as confirmation for his distraught family. Fans soon pointed out, though, that Jessica and Elliot were not mentioned, despite the fact that Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis were. Their non-attendances at the family gatherings and the statement has raised questions about potential unresolved conflicts.
