Limp Bizkit's Sam Rivers died after fall in bathroom? Details inside

Sam Rivers, the bassist of the metal band Limp Bizkit, was found dead at his home in St. Johns County, Florida. He was 48.

New details revealed

According to a report obtained by TMZ, Rivers was found dead in his bathroom. In an emergency 911 call, a woman identified as Keely discovered the American musician lying face down in the bathroom. In her emergency call, she reportedly told dispatchers that she found the musician “in a pool of blood” and began performing CPR while waiting for help to arrive.


The report further states that deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department rushed to the scene and continued to perform CPR until fire rescue officials arrived. He was pronounced dead.

Sam's death under investigation

While the cause of death is still unknown, reports state that Rivers had a visible cut above his eye, possibly caused by a fall in the bathroom. It was also observed that his face and neck had turned dark blue while the rest of his body appeared 'flushed' - a condition commonly seen in pulmonary embolism. A small amount of coagulated blood was also found near the area where he was discovered.

An official report is still awaited.

Sam underwent liver transplant

News of his death comes years after Rivers had undergone a liver transplant in 2018. He was reportedly on heavy medication for health-related issues. She also informed investigators that he occasionally drank alcohol and smoked marijuana.

Limp Bizkit pays tribute

Fans and fellow musicians have since taken to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute. The official page of Limp Bizkit shared his photo and penned an emotional note signed by members Fred, Wes, John and DJ Lethal that read, "In Loving Memory of Our Brother, Sam Rivers. Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat."

About Sam Rivers

Rivers was a founding member of Limp Bizkit, best known for hits such as Nookie, My Way, and Rollin’. He briefly stepped away from the band in 2015 after developing liver ailments owing to his heavy drinking. He later rejoined the band for live performances and new recordings.

Last week, the musician shared that the band was set to perform at a gig scheduled for June 2026.
