'Scorpion' by Drake album review
As half of us are still jiving to '
With 25 banging tracks, there are several that stand out which make the album truly one of Drake’s best. Notable ones include 'Non-stop'; a low-key, rambling track with a dark beat where Drake rightfully takes a dig at Kanye West for depending on hype rather than talent. A pure trap song, it is paced slow and is one of the best ones on the album.
Another good thing about the album is the fact that there are as many good songs on the pop side of the album as well. Some of them include 'Nice For What', where Drake puts forth his point as a no-nonsense feminist. 'Don’t Matter to Me', where the rapper has used unreleased, posthumous vocals from Michael Jackson and turned them into a refreshing track. 'Emotionless', made after Mariah Carey’s song with the same name is another lyrically strong track where the artiste talks about his feuds with Pusha-T.
'Talk-Up' with 'Jay-Z' is another masterful track where the latter has rapped better than he did on his own album. It’s pure 90’s Jay-Z with the same intensity and flow on a basic two beat. 'God’s Plan' is clearly the best song on the album which, in almost a nursery rhyme-like chorus makes several strong points. With songs like 'After Dark', 'Summer Games' and 'Final Fantasy', Drake stings deep with 'Scorpion' and delivers more than what his fans were waiting for.
In My Feelings
, while the others are fed up with the ear worm, one cannot ignore the fact that Drake’s massive album 'Scorpion' is the biggest one this year. The rapper has relied on lyrical simplicity and a laid back tempo rather than loud gimmicks or shaky audio experiments that rivals like Kanye West resort to, makes one respect him as an artiste. 'Scorpion' has spent four weeks on the charts and is a massive double album where the first side is heavily hip-hop and the second side is more pop and R&B.Another good thing about the album is the fact that there are as many good songs on the pop side of the album as well.
