A celebration to kick off a historic race
The British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata and a city turf club hosted a reception on the eve of the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Cup race day. Following tradition, Dr Andrew Fleming, the British Deputy High Commissioner to East and North-east India, handed over the cup to the club at the event, which drew a diverse crowd of celebs and dignitaries. During his speech, Fleming highlighted how Kolkata has emerged as India’s top science city as per the Nature Index 2024 and how he hopes this will be amplified and celebrated in the coming time.
