Akanksha Bhandari releases ‘Baabula’, a moving reflection on the bidaai moment
Singer-songwriter Akanksha Bhandari has released her latest single, ‘Baabula’, the third track from her upcoming wedding-themed EP ‘RANG’. Staying true to her folk-pop roots, Akanksha blends emotion and tradition in this song that captures one of the most intimate moments of a wedding — the bidaai.
‘Baabula’ reflects the emotional farewell of a daughter leaving her childhood home, exploring the tender bond between a father and daughter. The song captures the mix of love, strength, and nostalgia that define the moment when a bride steps into a new life while saying goodbye to the world that shaped her.
Following the earlier releases — ‘Piya Ghar’, a lively mehendi track, and ‘Rang’, a song about enduring companionship — ‘Baabula’ brings the emotional heart of the EP into focus. The five-track record, set to release next month, celebrates love, family, and tradition through the lens of wedding rituals.
Speaking about the song, Akanksha says, '‘Baabula’ is deeply personal for me, as it’s inspired by my own family and memories of home. Even after moving away years ago, the emotions of parting still feel very real, especially as I prepare for marriage. The song brings those feelings to the surface every time I sing it.”
Written and composed by Rehat Singh and produced by Garvit Soni, the track also incorporates elements of a classic Punjabi folk song, adding to its emotional depth.
‘Baabula’ is now streaming across major platforms. With ‘RANG’, Akanksha continues to explore the many shades of love and belonging that define the wedding experience.
