this year. UBUNTU- Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival 2020 will be held at Ranga Shankara and online from October 27 to November 1.UBUNTU
. The Nguni Bantu word “Ubuntu” roughly translates to "I am because we all are". Championed by African human rights activist Desmond Tutu, this concept underlines the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity. In the digital world, this idea is the founding principle of a platform based on copyleft movement and free softwares. In biology a hybrid is usually born to negotiate difficult conditions and this year the festival is a hybrid born out of necessity and acts of solidarity. Work of six theatre persons like Abhishek Majumbdar, Mohit Takalkar, Quassar Thakore Padamsee, Anurupa Roy, Toral Shah and Sankar Venkateswaran will be showcased at part of the festival. The festival will be going online for the first time. The physical space at Ranga Shankara will offer a multi-sensory experience. There will be webcasts, installations, films, podcasts, walks, food and interactive events at the venue, some of it will also be available online. So, if you have been waiting for your dose of theatre then head to Ranga Shankara or watch the festival from the comfort of your home.
