Bengaluru-based Bharatiya Samagana Sabha is organising a four-day music festival, Svara Cauvery, at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. The Indian classical music festival which began on Thursday will go on till Sunday and promises a fusion of Hindi, Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi songs.

Featuring 10 eminent artists from across India, the festival celebrates river Cauvery as the lifeline of Karnataka. “The river Cauvery - Dakshina Ganga has been the inspiration for various civilizations who have thrived on the banks of the river. This can be seen manifested in the various forms of art, culture and philosophy that have originated along the course of the river. Considered sacred, this river is the spiritual lifeline of the people in South India,” the program note reads.

While artists Trichur Brothers, Sandeep Narayan, Rajesh Vaidhya and Ranjani Gayatri will perform at the evening concerts, the festival will also have one-hour themed concerts by Chilkunda Sisters, Aishwarya Vidhya Raghunath, Anahita Apoorva, Amrutha Venkatesh, Madhuri Kaushik, and Sriranjani Santhanagopalan. On the final day of the festival, S-VYASA chancellor HR Nagendra, philanthropist Sudha Murty and Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi trust president MP Shyam will honour vocalists Ranjani and Gayatri with the Sabha's annual Samagana Mathanga Award.
