Bengaluru’s first underground airconditioned market, Palike Bazaar, located in Vijayanagar, adjacent to the Metro station and the bus stand, opened its doors to the public on Sunday. This marks South India’s first underground market, said to be modelled after Delhi’s Palika Bazaar. Additionally, the latest development in the city’s underground business, is an approval for the Tunnel Road project that is aimed at addressing Bengaluru’s chronic traffic congestion. The ambitious 18-kilometre twin-tube tunnel extending from Hebbal Flyover to the Central Silk Board Junction, is said to include five entry and exit points. However, it will be a while before Bengalureans can get to use this Tunnel Road.
