Naurata folk dance showcased in the city

The 'Gamak' series run by the Tribal Museum in Bhopal is one of the most awaited events in the city. The series lets tribal artistes from not only different parts of the state, but other states also perform on their folk dances and songs. This time too, the series brought native dances from the region of Gond tribes in

Madhya Pradesh

The evening began with Bundeli folk songs performed by Deepa Shrivastava and group. They started the presentation with Ganapati bhajan. Then they moved on to sing praises of other native gods and deities.

The second half of the evening brought about colourful costumes and grand props for the Naurata folk dance which is native to the region of

Bundelkhand

. The women were dressed up in glittering lehengas and wore authentic tribal jewellery. The troupe was led by Payal Sen, and the dancers were accompanied by instrumental players from the region.
