Dhritrashtrya Digvijaya

was staged. This was a part of the Ankiya genre of theatre which is an ancient and traditional form of theatre which is specific to Assam. The play revolves around the character of Dhritrashtrya who is a follows lord Vishnu wholeheartedly. He spends a big amount of his life praying to Lord Vishnu and meditating. Then one day when lord Vishnu gets impressed by the prayers of Dhritrashtrya he visits him and tells him that he will grant him on wish. Dhritrashtrya couldn’t believe that lord Vishnu is there with him and he asks him to give him the power to see for four months. After getting his wish fulfilled he goes on a tour to win the world and during this time Vidur stays with him. During this time Dhritrashtrya wins over many states and provinces and also kills many demons using his skills and abilities.
