Shishya pays a musical tribute to his Ustad
On late Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar's 86th birth anniversary, his shishyas (disciples) organised a two-day long Dhrupad festival called Faridi Samaroh at Baithak - The Art House. The event began with a performance on a rare musical instrument 'Surbahar' by Rajendra Vishwaroop in raga Maru. The artiste began his journey with Surbahar 18 years agao, when he got golden opportunity to learn music from Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar.

Later, vocalist Surekha Kamble presented Tan Rangan Hai, Tab Tak Sur in raga Yaman and Mahadev Shiv Har Har in evening raga Kalavati .

Rajendra shared a vivid memory of his relationship with his guru. Once when he was practicing raga Yaman, Ustad told him to continue practising until he returned, and locked the door from outside. Hours passed and his teacher had actually forgotten about him, and unlocked the door after 5 hours to find Rajendra still practising. That day Ustad blessed him for his dedication.
