is one of the most awaited events in the city. The series lets tribal artistes from not only different parts of the state, but other states also perform on their folk dances and songs. This time too, the series brought native dances from the region of

Chhattisgarh

.
The evening began with devotional Malwi songs by Mahant Mayadevi Anajana and her group. They dedicated their songs to various gods and deities of the

Malwa

region. They were accompanied by harmonium, dholak and other native instruments.

Second half of the evening was dedicated to 'Uraanv' folk dance that was brought to Bhopal by Sumanti Devi Bhagat and her troupe all the way from Chhattisgarh. The dance originates from

Jashpur

district and is performed in the Hindu month of Fagun, which also celebrates Holi and

Rangpanchami

. It is also performed in wedding processions and to celebrate matrimonial alliances in the state.
