film industries are in news for alleged substance abuse, Odia actor Kuna Tripathy is all set to create awareness against drug abuse in Cuttack district. The veteran film and television actor, who is also chairperson of Odisha Film Development Corporation (

OFDC

), has been chosen as the face for the drug-free Cuttack campaign. Tripathy, a complete teetotaler, is excited to play his part in making his district free of such evil practices.

Talking to us, Tripathy said he got a letter from the district social security section of the Office of the Collector, Cuttack, today in this regard. “The social security and empowerment of persons with disability department is going to implement the Nisha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. For implementation of this project, the district authorities would conduct various activities in Cuttack. So, the collector has made me the face of this campaign in Cuttack,” he said.

The

ministry of social justice and empowerment

had launched the Nisha Mukt Bharat: Annual Action Plan (2020-2021) in June this year for 272 most affected districts across the country. Among these 272, there are 10 districts from Odisha. Cuttack is one of them.

He added that it would be a good thing for him to be a part of such a campaign and try to persuade people through various activities to quit drugs. “It’s high time we must go for a drugs-free India to save our future generations,” he said.
