Film appreciation course ends with documentary screenings

, held in collaboration with the Film and Television Institute of India (

FTII

), came to an end at

Panjab University

on Sunday. While it helped students pick up nitty-gritties of the trade, what changed their perception was the insightful knowledge shared by the instructors.
The course hosted by the Department of English and Cultural Studies saw massive participation, and during the valedictory function here, two documentaries made by the participants of the course were screened. In one of the documentaries Panjab University was the main highlight. Prof Deepti Gupta, chairperson of the department shared her views about the course along with Dr Surbhi Goel. They mentioned about how education and instruction of subjects like cinema and audio-visual were more about curating the optimal content and creating insightful conversation and discussion rather than an informational flow alone.

which they have participated in the making. Also, there was a Q&A round on the occasion. On the fifth and final day, a discussion of the film Pyaasa, screened on Saturday, was carried out in which the music and lyrics of the songs were discussed.
