Melodies of East and west mesmerize Chandigarh

A special evening of melodies organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra in collaboration with Indian National Theatre , Chandigarh at Randhawa Auditorium, Punjab Kala Bhawan witnessed a silver flute and Saxophone jugalbandi by Italy based duo, Samvad- Igino and Virgina Nicoli. Virgina dreamed of playing the flute since she was three. She studied privately for five years with different teachers and participated in seminars run by Reza Najfar.She is also a graduate from the visual arts steiner school Progetto Michelangelo in Milano. She has masters in Music Therapy from the Modello Benenzon. Igino Giovanni Brunori began to play saxophone at seven.
Samvad met in 2006 through music and began their musical journey towards India, together in both life and music studying the bansuri. This dazzling duo Samvad chose Multani, for the evening and began with the traditional Alaap, Jod to unfold the mysteries raga with maturity and perfect expansion and jhala in tala sultaal followed by raga Bageshri in chautaal. Then they moved on to present bansuri jugalbandi in raga Hamsadhvani playing their original aditaal composition. They were in tremendous form and enthralled the audience with their sheer virtuosity, deft handling of the raga, lightening speed taans. The concert was concluded with saxophone and voice jugalbandi in raga Bhairavi with a slow tivrataal traditional dhrupad composition.
