Mohali hospital honours nursing staff on International Nurses Day
In honour of the nursing staff in hospitals, May 12 is observed as International Nurses Day. In tandem, a multispecialty hospital in Mohali had hosted a week-long cultural activity to observe the day which is celebrated in the memory of Florence Nightingale on her birth anniversary. This year, the hospital's celebrations were themed on 'Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies.’
The celebrations were launched at the hospital from May 7 with various activities like Best out of Waste, Balloon Bump, Sac and Lemon Race, Frog Race, Poster Competition, Talent Show and Traditional Dress Round. Besides nurses, employees from several other departments also took part in mehendi competition and Tug of War before concluding on May 12.
It was attended by the nursing staff and senior leadership of the hospital like, Abhijit Singh, Vikramjit Singh, Indrajeet Singh, and Nikethana R, Chief of Nursing.
The nursing staff took the pledge administered by Chief of Nursing, Nikethana, followed by a lively dance session to celebrate the occasion. Some nurses also bagged prizes for their participation in the event.
Nikethana R said, “Our nursing staff has always been at the forefront of medical care. They work selflessly to deliver excellent patient care service at all times. They go to great lengths and ignore their own physical and emotional needs. International Nurses Day gives the nursing community a platform to exhibit their contribution to the healthcare sector.”
