The hot sun on Monday afternoon didn’t deter the students from flocking to the venue, where OPPO Chennai Times Fresh Face 2017 audition was organised on Madras Christian College campus. The contestants and their friends thronged the venue in no time, some munching on food just bought from the canteen right next to it. The audition started bang on time. The high-octane performances quickly set the mood and even got the audience on their feet.
The celebrity judge for the audition was model and singer Aishvarya Khumar. She was quite excited about judging the audition and said, “This event is such a fantastic platform for youngsters. It was in college that I realised my true abilities and talents, and started focusing on them.”
Among the boys, Benny Swamidoss D won the winner’s title after he impressed the judges with his amazing beat boxing skills. The first runner-up and second runner-up, Anandan I and Johan Jesudas, respectively, were also musicians. Anandan enthralled the audience and judges alike with the way he played the Vaseegaraa En Nenjinikka on flute. Whereas, Johan entertained the audience with a guitar solo. Among the girls, the dancers, Nattaniah Merscy and Mirudhula M emerged as the winner and first runner-up, respectively.
