2018. The two-day event began with a packed opening show which was followed by four shows that set the trends for the current winter season.

Bold and beachy

’s opening show at #DelhiTimesIndiaShowcaseWeek defined what ideal beach holiday-wear should be. With lots of flowy dresses, tunics and casual dresses with floral prints, the designer’s collection was perfect for a beach getaway. Rina told us that the collection, ‘Spring 19, Ready to wear’, was her Spring 2019 line and lots of woven stripes and light embroidery were used in the collection. “The prints were a mix of floral and graphic designs. The idea was to create an easy-flowing, wearable yet stylish line,” said Rina. Shraddha Shashidhar, Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2017 - Miss Universe India, was the showstopper and donned a black dress with printed motifs.

Street style
The best of street style was on display as DC, Steve Madden and G-Star Raw presented their latest lines. The collection by DC was all about smart casuals for men, from bomber jackets to sweatshirts. G-Star Raw showcased trendy winter jackets, jogger pants and trendy athleisure. Steve Madden presented the latest designs from their new collection in accessories.

The show by Built Natural focussed on designs created from recycled material. The sports brand showcased gymwear for both men and women – from yoga pants to track pants, shorts and fitted tees. Bhavya Chawla, founder of Built Natural, said, “The concept behind our brand is to take fitness wear to another level and also promote the use of organic and natural fabrics while promoting fitness. We have a special segment of clothes where we are using recycled polyester. We convert 20 PET bottles to make one T-shirt. Apart from that, we have organic cotton, lycra and 100% polyester. It was a very good event and I am thankful for this opportunity. I hope to go a long way from here.”

Wedding jazz
In the last few years, several designers have presented special collections for destination weddings. This time it was designers Arun Ahuja, John Marya, Anu Seth and Arti Talwar who created a special line keeping in mind destination weddings. The striking part of the collection was the dominant use of black. “For long, it has been believed that black is not a colour for weddings, but I think it is high time we break such notions,” said designer Arun Ahuja. Mr India World 2018 Vishnu Raj Menon was the showstopper.

Casual chic
While for many,

winter fashion

is all about boots and coats, some prefer to keep their winter look casual. The show put together by Promod, Aldo and Charles & Keith had a mix of both. The show began with some trendy, smart casual-wear for women and moved to present a more formal line with dresses and knee-length coats. Perfectly matched footwear and accessories completed the trendy look.
