Indo-Pak band

Raeth

enthralled the audience at Miranda House as part of the college’s fest –

Tempest 2016

– recently. The band, which shot to fame in 2006 with their single 'Bhula Do,' and has been a favourite with the Delhi audience, has performed at a number of college fests over the years.

The band – comprising vocalist

Wajhi Farookhi

, lead guitarist Max, rhythm guitarist

Sunny Ghansham

with Shikhar on bass and

Sanjit Mothey

on drums – performed to a full house at the college grounds. While they began with some of their most popular tracks like 'Tum Meri Ho' and 'Bhula Do,' they even sang songs like Bhaag DK Bose, 'Teri Deewani' and 'Kabeera,' apart from retro hits from the 1990s. Taking a break from the foot-tapping dance numbers, the band also performed Sufi rock numbers like 'Tajdar-e-Haram' and 'Jugni,' to a loud cheer from the crowd.

The loudest cheers, though, were heard when Wajhi revealed his connection to the college. Talking to the crowd, he said, “I have always wanted to come and perform here and this is not just because of you guys! I mean, you guys are great, but the real reason I wanted to be here is because five years ago, I met a wonderful girl from your college and fell for her. 'Aap logon ki hi senior hai kisi batch ki'. It’s been five years and we’re still together, which makes Miranda House all the more special for me.”

The band brought their performance to a close with a rendition of AR Rahman’s popular track 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'. Latika, a student, said, “What was most the special was that an Indo-Pak band with a Pakistani vocalist ended the concert with 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'. It just shows that music knows no boundaries and borders.”
