The Tihar collection
For the inmates of Tihar Jail, this Independence Day was indeed a special one. Guess why?
In a unique fashion show held on the eve of Independence Day at Amzadd Habibs academy, as part of his fundraising endeavour to train sex workers, models took to the ramp in not designer outfits and accessories, but in designs created by inmates of Tihar jail.

A FAIRY FOR ME: While Parvez Habib, Jawed Habib, Poonam Sivia, DG Tihar Jail and chief guest BK Gupta, law officer Sunil Gupta were seen enjoying the show, body art specialist Jerry etched the tattoo of a fairy on the forehand of one of the specially invited sex workers. Initially, all three of them who had come in were too shy to speak. Later, one of them came up to me with a tattoo request saying, Mujhe titli chahiye. Kya mujh pe achchi lagegi? I was taken aback by her innocence, and gave her a fairy tattoo, Jerry said.
MAKING AN IMPACT: While the show was choreographed by Aamer Zakir, Amzadd styled the models himself. I have given them a carefree look. This look gels aptly with the theme of Independence, he elaborated. While the designs created by the Tihar inmates were appreciated by all present, Gupta said, Amzadds idea of using designs created by the the inmates for the show has worked out wonderfully. And this is not all. Tihar inmates have one more reason to cheer as their products have also found a place in the Sunday fashion market in a prominent city mall and are being lapped up with great enthusiasm.
