Explore light and colour: Tiered Reflections exhibition at British Council

The British Council, as part of its Culture Connects program in India, and the Public Arts Trust of India is set to present Tiered Reflections, an immersive light installation by UK artist Liz West. Originally commissioned for Jodhpur Arts Week and inspired by the Toorji ka Jhalra stepwell, this dynamic artwork has been reimagined for the India Art Fair 2025. While retaining colors reminiscent of its Jodhpur origins, the installation now incorporates bolder hues reflecting its new setting at the British Council, New Delhi. The exhibition will be open to the public at the British Council, New Delhi, from February 5th to 26th, 2025.

Tiered Reflections uses mirrored surfaces and vibrant colors to celebrate the stepwell's architectural heritage while responding to Delhi's unique energy. The resulting kaleidoscopic light and reflections create a constantly evolving, immersive experience, inviting visitors to engage with color and form in a meditative and sensory way. Adapted to Delhi's atmosphere, the installation offers a fresh perspective on the interplay of history and modernity, becoming a living artwork that evolves with time and place.

The exhibition will be held at the British Council, New Delhi and will run from February 5 to February 26, 2025, and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
