Gurgaon students raise voter awareness through nukkad natak
Students from Gurgaon, belonging to the Kalakaar Academy, recently staged a compelling play at Cyber Hub on May 12, advocating for the importance of voting. Through dynamic storytelling and emotive performances through a street play they underscored the pivotal role of every individual's vote in shaping a better future. The event garnered widespread attention, inspiring audience members to become more informed and engaged citizens. Such initiatives serve as powerful reminders of the transformative potential inherent in democratic participation, highlighting the collective responsibility we share in building a more inclusive and equitable society.11-year-old Arshia said, During the practise sessions of the nukkad natak, I learned that there is a way of communicating with people through a play and also the importance of voting. I also interviewed one of my teachers to know her ideas about voting. It was interesting to know her thoughts."
"After this performance, I realised what children can do to make an impact in our society by expressing our thoughts through different ways," said Shiv Bhatia (11)., who was also a part of the play. Another participant Tanshika (11) added, "Apart from educating me about the electoral process, performing at the Cyber Hub gave me confidence to perform in large crowds. I got out of my comfort zone I enhanced my teamwork skills as I collaborated with others. It helped to develop my interest in theatre and I would love to do it again."
The nukkad natak emphasised on the importance of casting vote. "It was an unparalleled experience of performing in front of a live audience and trying to convince them to come out and cast their precious vote and also look for qualities like honesty, sincerity and farsightedness in the leader they choose. We, as a group, will be very glad if we were able to convince even one person to cast his/her/their vote appropriately because it does make a big difference," says
